My first dog was a Border Collie named Tippy, that was probably when I
first fell in love with dogs. I am not sure exactly how that
transferred to English Springer Spaniels, but it has definately been
love. More than adequately reciprocated, I might add.
Our first Springer, Sallys Brandy Girl , liver and white, was
already a mature adult when she was given to us in 1980. We bred her
with a black and white male named Sir Pooner of Berkshire. From that
union we had our first puppy, Sunny Girl. She was the smallest pup in
the litter. We never did use her for breeding, but she was such a joy
and we loved her all the years we had her.
Then a friend of ours was raising a litter of puppies from the same
lines I started with and she gave me second pick. A black and white
female which we named Dancing Lady Dixie Belle.
Dixie was my first obedience titled dog, I believe she thought
she was going to dog shows just to socialize, she loved it!
From Dixie came Dandy and Lulu, and Joey is Dandys puppy. Our girls make regular visits to the nursing homes as therapy dogs.
My husband Mark and I take our responsibility serious when it
comes to breeding and raising quality puppies.
We have their health checks cleared as well as the proof of the
studs clearances. We keep the puppies for ten weeks, and during that
time they learn how to interact with each other as well as our adult
dogs, and with adults and children. We also have them temperament
tested and CERF'd, besides their vaccinations etc.
We are members of:
WESSA (Wisconsin English SpringerSpaniel Association,
ESSFTA (English Springer Spaniel Field Trial Association) &
Bay De Noc Kennel Club.
We have attended various seminars: Chris Bach with the Third Way
Training, a tracking seminar, and others sponsored by the Bay De
Noc Kennel Club.
We have just built agility equipment for our dogs, they absolutely love
it! I continue to train for obedience, and hunting. I have also shown
my springers in conformation.
Hope you enjoy the site, and may it cause joy to spring from your heart!
